Lives Worth Saving makes contact with Human Trafficking (HT) victims in a variety of ways. In the United States, we incorporate the use of our Phone Bank Team to make contact with HT victims via their ads posted online.
We also have Hotline Advocates who monitor our hotline phone number 24/7/365 so that whenever a victim reaches out, we can be there for them.
Finally, we have an Exit Team who assist in the extraction of a victim when they make a decision to Exit the life.
The Phone Bank Team (PBT) is the backbone of what we do locally and nationally in the USA to reach Human Trafficking (HT) victims. As a member of the PBT, you will be trained how to safely contact a victim of HT via a phone call and texting.
You will learn how to identify an HT victim by deciphering the words in the ad that are posted online. This will allow you to differentiate between an HT victim and a sex worker. HT victims are controlled by a trafficker (pimp) via force, fraud, and/or coercion. Any income an HT victim receives goes directly to the trafficker. A sex worker does not have a trafficker and keeps the item(s) exchanged for sex.
You will learn how to obtain a virtual phone number that links to your email account. You can use the virtual number with your current mobile number. That is the number you will use when contacting or being contacted by HT victims.
Once you contact an HT victim, it is important to document that contact for future reference and follow through with resources. All pertinent information will be stored to ensure future contacts with that victim are seamless.
Hot Line Advocates (HLA) are responsible for fielding calls that come into our Hotline. The Hotline is staffed 24/7/365. Depending on your level of experience and time availability, you will be able to participate as an HLA on a rotation basis.
You will have access to a variety of resources to give to a victim who wants help. Many of these resources apply to Sex Workers as well.
The Exit Team is responsible for ensuring the victim is safely moved from a prearranged location (determined by the Team) to an aftercare facility.
The Exit Team consists of several volunteers each with specific responsibilities. It takes a great deal of coordination and communication to safely complete an Exit.
